Gutters in Clearwater
Clearwater is old money on the water and mid-century block inland. Belleair, Belleair Bluffs, Harbor Oaks and Island Estates have large 1950s–90s homes, a lot of tile roofs, mature live oaks on the bluff, and Gulf air that corrodes every plain-steel fastener in a decade. Clearwater Beach and Sand Key are condos and rebuilt beach houses where wind is the main enemy. The bluff and the beach
On Harbor Oaks, the bluff along Druid Road and anything on Island Estates or the beach, the issue is the same as St. Pete's waterfront: aluminum that is fine and steel hangers that are gone. Can you install gutters on a tile roof in Clearwater?
Yes. We set the gutter to catch the tile overhang, fasten hangers into the fascia rather than under the tile, and usually recommend 6-inch on the main runs because tile sheds water in a sheet. Nobody walks on the tile. Tile-roof installs are quoted after a look rather than over the phone.
Do you work on Clearwater Beach and Sand Key?
Yes, on single-family homes and small buildings. Condo towers with commercial roof drainage are a different trade. On the beach we use stainless fasteners on every job and pay extra attention to hanger spacing, because wind is what takes gutters down there, not rain.
Do I need a permit for gutter work in Clearwater?
The City of Clearwater and Pinellas County decide that, and a like-for-like replacement often does not need one. Where a permit is required, Florida requires the contractor to hold a state specialty or general contractor license. We handle the permit when one applies and list it on the estimate.
