Gutter repair
Gutter repair in Tampa
Water dripping at a corner, a run pulling off the fascia, a downspout crushed by the mower. Most Tampa gutter problems are a $150–$600 repair, and we will tell you if yours is the exception before you spend a dollar.
The five repairs we do most around Tampa
Leaking corners and end caps. The mitered corner is the first thing to go on any gutter. Sealant that bakes at 95 degrees all summer and sits wet all afternoon gives up after eight to ten years, and the corner starts dripping onto the walkway or the AC pad. We clean the joint back to bare metal, reseal with a polyurethane sealant that stays flexible, and replace the miter if it has corroded through. This is the gutter leak repair Tampa homeowners call about most, usually $150–$250.
Sagging runs and failed hangers. Two versions here. On the inland side, spike-and-ferrule hangers back out of the fascia over time and the run drops in the middle. Near the bay, the aluminum is fine but the steel spikes and screws have rusted to nothing in the salt air, and the gutter is held up by habit. Either way we re-hang with hidden hangers and stainless screws every 24 inches, or every 18 on long runs, and reset the pitch so the water reaches the downspout. Sagging gutter repair Tampa-wide is $150–$300 per run.
Crushed or separated downspouts. Mowers, ladders, a trailer backed into the corner of the garage. A crushed downspout backs the whole run up. We replace it and upsize to 3x4 while we are there, which doubles the capacity for about $40 more. Downspout repair Tampa crews get called for is the one job where the upgrade costs less than the service call.
Sections pulled loose in a storm. Wind gets under a gutter that was already loose and peels it back. A straight section gets re-hung; a kinked one gets replaced and matched to the rest. After a named storm we photograph before we secure, so your adjuster sees what the wind did. Hurricane gutter repair Tampa homeowners need in September goes ahead of everything else on the schedule.
Rotted fascia. On a block home the fascia is the only wood at the roof edge, and it is the wood that has been wet for years. We cannot hang a gutter on it. We cut out the soft board, check the truss tails, install new primed lumber or PVC trim, and re-hang. Fascia and soffit repair Tampa jobs are priced per foot on the same estimate as the gutter work.
Repair or replace?
Aluminum, under 20 years old, problems in one or two places: repair. Sectional with a seam every 10 feet, rusted steel, or more than a third of the runs needing work: replacement, because you would spend most of the cost of a new seamless system patching one with no warranty. We wrote the decision out in repair vs. replacement in Tampa, and the installation page covers what a new system includes.
What a repair visit looks like
- Every run checked from a ladder, and the fascia behind it probed with a screwdriver.
- Every downspout traced to where it drains. If it dumps at the slab, we recommend extensions; sand washes out, and the fix is cheap.
- A written price. Repairs under $400 are usually done on the spot if you say yes.
- Hose through the repaired section before we leave.
If you would rather narrow it down first, how to find a gutter leak walks through the hose test, and why gutters overflow in Tampa rain covers the overflow that is not a leak at all. If the run has dropped in the middle, why hangers fail and how a re-hang works is the one to read.
What repair cannot fix
A 5-inch gutter with a single 2x3 downspout on a 50-foot run will go over the front lip in a July storm no matter how well it is sealed. That is a sizing problem. The honest fix is a second downspout, a 3x4 upgrade, or a 6-inch run on a big roof plane, and we will say so instead of reselling you a reseal every two years.

Gutter repair Riverview FL calls are mostly 2010s two-story homes with one undersized downspout on the back wall; gutter repair Wesley Chapel calls tend to start the month the builder warranty runs out; gutter repair Tampa FL proper is more often a 1950s ranch with add-on sectional runs from the 1990s. How fast can you repair a leaking gutter in Tampa?
Usually within the week, and storm damage first. If a run has come down and water is washing out a slab corner, say so when you call. We will get someone out to secure it the same day where we can and finish the proper repair on the next visit.
Can gutter leaks be fixed without replacing the gutter?
Almost always, if the gutter is aluminum and the metal is sound. Corner, seam and end-cap leaks are a clean-and-reseal job. The exception is pinholes along the bottom of an old steel gutter or aluminum that has been eaten by salt near the water; sealing those buys months, not years.
Why does my gutter overflow when it is not clogged?
Three usual reasons around Tampa: the run has lost its pitch and water pools instead of flowing; the downspout is too small for the roof area; or the gutter itself is too small for a one-inch-an-hour storm. All three are fixable without replacing the whole system, and we can tell which from a ladder in ten minutes.
Do you repair gutters over a pool cage or lanai?
Yes. The gutter usually runs along the house wall above the cage or ties into the cage's own super gutter. We work from inside the enclosure or from the roof with padding on the screen frame, and we do not lean ladders on the cage rails.
